GILLESPIE COUNTY SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT #220 Gillespie County, Texas Youth Range Workshop. For over 50 years, a week-long Youth Range Workshop has been held each year at Texas Tech University Campus – Junction Texas. Forty youth are accepted for each session. Gillespie Co. SWCD traditionally sponsors one or two youths each year. In 2006, we sponsored Sarah Rhode. In 2007 we sponsored Cody Frantzen. We hope to post pictures from the 2007 session soon. Students receive advanced practical training in ecology, ranch and natural resource management. Land stewardship and leadership skills are taught with the goal that students return home to help educate others about what they’ve learned. These photos are from the 2005 Workshop.
