GILLESPIE COUNTY SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT #220 Gillespie County, Texas TTSRM Youth Range Workshop. For over 50 years, a week-long Youth Range Workshop has been held each year at Texas Tech University Campus – Junction Texas. Forty boys and girls, ages 14 – 18, are accepted for each session. Gillespie Co. SWCD traditionally sponsors one or two youths each year. For 2010, we’re sponsoring Cord Weinheimer and Chance Mohr. Gillespie County Wild Game Dinner is sponsoring Steffanie Eckhardt, and Gillespie County Farm Bureau will sponsor Holly Crenwelge. All four students attend Fredericksburg High School; their teacher is Eddie Byrom. Students receive advanced practical training in ecology, ranch and natural resource management. Land stewardship and leadership skills are taught with the goal that students return home to help educate others about what they’ve learned. These photos are from the 2005 Workshop.
