Gillespie Prescribed Burn Association

Planned Events and Training

Gillespie Prescribed Burn Association will hold its annual membership meeting on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Gillespie Co. Agriculture Extension Building at 95 Frederick Road, Fredericksburg, TX.  Stanley Rabke will provide tamales and iced tea for the meal.  This will be a great dinner and training session, and we’d like you all to come!  Please RSVP to Pat Kroll at 830-997-3349 ext. 3 or by email to Pat.Kroll@tx.nacdnet.net by Dec. 1.

The tamale dinner will be served at 5:30, before the meeting and program. The meeting/training will begin at 6:00 p.m.  We expect the meeting to adjourn at about 8:30 p.m.  Dr. Charles A. (Butch) Taylor, Advisor to Edwards Plateau Prescribed Burning Association will talk about EPPBA’s purpose and objectives. We’ll have a Director election, and talk about buying more equipment.  The program will consist of Working in Groups on Actual Burn Plans and a critique of the plans will follow.

Keith Blair, My Red Buffalo, Medina Texas is holding a Texas Prescribed Burn School, December 26, 2007-January 8, 2008.  This is the 2nd Annual College Student/Landowner Burn School.  It will be at Texas Tech University-Junction, Blue Mountain Peak Ranch and Blue Mountain Ranch, Mason County

The Landowner school runs December 27-31 and participants can register online.

The College student school runs the entire two weeks; you can register here online if you want to receive college credit (3 hrs).

A tour of Warren Hahn's ranch with a 20-year history of burning is planned for early 2008. We'll send out emails and post the date here as soon as we can.
