Gillespie Chapter
of Edwards Plateau Prescribed
Burn Association (GPBA)
Membership
Information
Please call Director Stanley Rabke at 830-685-3266,
or email Director Warren Hahn at wkhahn@hctc.net for
more information about the Gillespie Prescribed Burn Association.
To join GPBA, call 830-997-3349 ext. 3 and ask for a
membership application. We can mail or e-mail the application to you, or you
can stop by the office and pick one up.
Mail your application with a check (payable to GPBA), to Gillespie
Prescribed Burn Association, 1906 North Llano, #106, Fredericksburg, TX
78624. Dues are collected on a
calendar year basis. EPPBA in Sonora will not send the dues notices anymore;
that job was delegated to the individual chapters. GPBA will likely send out
dues notices after the next membership meeting.
We often use email to notify members of upcoming
events, so please include your email address and cell phone number on the
membership application form, as well as your USPS mailing address. Also, please indicate whether you’re
willing to help other people with their burns.
Events
In 2011, EPPBA directors voted to make it mandatory
to register a prescribed burn with EPPBA and required the related
supplemental insurance. The fee is
$150 for the first burn day and $50 for each additional burn day. Also EPPBA said members can’t use a chapter’s
equipment for a burn unless the burn is registered with EPPBA.
EPPBA directors voted on November 30, 2010 to raise
dues by $10 a year, beginning with 2011.
Members who paid 2011 dues before the dues increase will be
grandfathered. The dues increase will
help pay for a new liability insurance policy for prescribed burning. More
information on the insurance policy will be posted as soon as details are
worked out.
