The
annual poster and essay contests were judged January 24, 2012. Winners will be announced soon. Students from three
Gillespie County schools entered.
There were 84 poster entries and 26 essays. Please check our Kids’ Page for
winners’ names. The Fredericksburg
Lions Club will host a hamburger dinner in the winners’ honor on March 30.
Winners’ entries
will be sent to Area 2 for the next level of competition. The local poster and essay contests are
sponsored by Gillespie County SWCD.
The second level of competition is sponsored by the Texas State Soil
& Water Conservation Board and Association of Texas Soil and Water
Conservation Districts.

Gillespie
Prescribed Burn Association’s (GPBA) annual membership meeting was postponed
until March 2012. Postcards
will be sent to members with meeting details and an agenda, closer to the
meeting date. If you are interested in

Gillespie
County SWCD’s Annual Fish Sale will be held in late April, 2012. Details should be out in
the next couple of weeks. If you plan
to order Grass Carp, it takes several weeks to obtain your permit from Texas
Parks and Wildlife, so apply in March, if not sooner.
