2006 Conservation Poster & Essay
Contest Winners
In Dec. 2006 we received 64 poster entries. The
possible themes were either “Today Is The Day To Be A Part Of
Conservation’s Power”, or “Water Wise”. The posters were designed by students ages
13 and younger.

Poster Winners. All three poster winners attend Doss
School. Zane's poster also placed 3rd
at the TSSWCB Area II contest, which includes 44 southwest Texas Counties.

essays were submitted for the 2006 contest. The essay theme was “What Soil and Water Conservation Means
to Me”. Essays were divided into
two age groups: Age 13 or younger, and
Age 14 to 18.
Essay Winners age 13 and younger. Rebecca
Schwarz, who attends St. Mary’s School won first place. Abby Howard, also from St. Mary’s
School, placed second. Kaylee Olfers
who attends Doss School, won third place.
Essay Winners age 14 to 18. Callie Settles, who attends Fredericksburg
Christian School won first place. Zack Graves, Doss School, placed
second. Rachel Lynn Karp placed third.
Callie's essay also placed 3rd at the TSSWCB Area II contest.
Winners
received plaques and savings bonds certificates at a hamburger dinner
sponsored by the Fredericksburg Lions Club in March 2007. Callie Settles and
Zane Graves also received plaques from the TSSWCB.
